Hoya peduncles (flower spurs): what they are and why not to cut them
The peduncle, often called the spur, is the stalk that carries a hoya's flower cluster. Leave it on after the flowers fade: Missouri Botanical Garden says new flowers form on the old spur, NC State says a spur can flower repeatedly over several years, and the RHS advises against deadheading because left-on stalks often flower again.
Why is my hoya not blooming? The documented causes, in order
The causes with the strongest support are too little light, flower spurs that were cut off, and a plant that is simply too young: NC State says most Hoya carnosa plants do not flower until they are 2 or 3 years old. If buds form and then fall, the usual triggers are moving the plant or letting the mix get too wet or too dry.
